How we list businesses
Every Field Notes directory follows the same four house rules. Each one also publishes its own method, linked at the bottom of this page.
1. Real businesses only
Every listing starts from public business records and is checked against the business’s own website. No placeholder pages.
2. Every fact has a source and a date
Prices, services and checks show where they came from and the day we read them. When a business’s website doesn’t say something, the listing says so instead of guessing.
3. Paid spots always say Ad
Listings are free. A business can pay for placement, and that spot is always labeled Ad. Paying never changes the facts we show about anyone, and nobody buys a rank or a better write-up.
Connor Hand, who keeps these directories, also owns Tiny Mage, a digital marketing agency. Some of its clients hold Ad spots on our directories. Being a client never changes the facts we show.
4. Your listing is free
If you own a business we list, you can claim the listing, fix anything we got wrong, add your prices and services, or ask us to take it down. Use the page for businesses on the directory where you’re listed, or email hello@fieldnotesdirectories.com.
We recount every month
On the 1st of each month we count what every directory lists and add the tally to the log in the field notebook on our home page.
Each directory’s own method
